Carvel is a sweet and shy 3 year old Doberman/lab mix who came to WARL from a puppy mill. When she first arrived, she was very fearful and scared. She plastered herself at the back of her crate and didn't know how to go up or down stairs.
Our pet dog, Magee, an 8 year old Golden Retriever was the one she felt most comfortable with at first. On the second day she gave him a play bow and started coming out of her shell. It was at that point she began to slowly learn how to navigate the stairs.
She has not had a single accident since she came to us. I initially took her out every 2 hours during the day, but now she goes out about every 4 hours. She sleeps in her crate without difficulty, about 7 - 8 hours at night.
We hand fed her for the first 5 days and she really seems to enjoy her food. She will take treats out of our hands too.
She is most comfortable in her crate, but is building up her courage and will come out to check in with us periodically.
She and Magee have begun to play "pull it" with various toys!

She enjoys chewing on Nyla bones and stuffed sterile bones.
